In the Beginning, I Couldn’t See How It Would Work
During my training with Marisa Peer to become certified as an RTT practitioner and hypnotherapist, we practiced techniques on each other in person. We were divided into groups of three, and took turns being either the client, the therapist, or the observer. We became accustomed to sitting face to face with one another. This felt natural, intuitive, and essential. I got used to reading body language, holding space in the same room, and feeling that in-the-moment energy that passed between us. At the time, it never crossed my mind that I would do this type of healing any other way.
Fast forward a year or so, early on in my practice, I was only seeing clients in person. That’s what I knew, and it worked beautifully. But then one day, the unexpected happened, I received a client referral from out of town. Actually, not only was she out of town, she was a lot farther away, like...on another continent! Sydney, Australia, to be exact, which is roughly on the other side of the entire planet. My first thought to myself was, “...well Aki, how’s THAT gonna work?” 😳
Suddenly, I was faced with a choice: I could either turn her away to fend for herself, or step into the unknown and help her.
I chose the latter. I said yes.
The Session That Changed Everything
Even though I had full confidence in RTT® and the process itself, because I had never done a session online, I was a little hesitant. I wasn’t really sure if being physically present (or not) made a difference in the depth or connection that all of my previous clients had experienced. I had to keep reminding myself, leading up to the session, that transformation doesn’t come from proximity, it comes from presence.
So, I trusted the process. I trusted my client’s desire for transformation and I did what I knew to do - I held space for her and I guided her just as I would have if we were in the same room. And, as always, something magical happened…
It worked!
And it didn't "just" work, it worked as deeply and powerfully as anything I’d experienced in person.
That session became the first of many across borders, time zones, and even continents. I’ve since worked with clients all over the world, and the results speak for themselves. Every. Single. Time.
Why Virtual Healing Works (Sometimes Even Better)
What happens in my sessions isn’t about me, it’s about the client’s desire and willingness to heal.
I don’t “do” anything to them. I don’t fix, diagnose, or hand over what I think their answers are. What I do is guide. I facilitate. I lead my clients to the root of their issue, and they do the rest. They connect the dots. They find their truth because the truth has always lived inside of them - not in the room, not in the method, but in them.
In fact, I can see how virtual sessions could work in favor of clients. It can help them to be more relaxed which can help them go deeper. Why? Because they are in the comfort of their own home, their safe space. They don’t have to walk into an unfamiliar office or navigate traffic or worry about how they appear. They can be as comfy, cozy as they choose to be.
They can relax, close their eyes, lean in, and meet themselves in the most personal way possible — guided, but not interrupted. Supported, but not steered and their healing unfolds naturally.
A Private Experience, Wherever You Are
I’m pretty sure you can relate to the full lives we women lead: juggling home and careers, wearing many hats, taking care of many responsibilities. It’s really nice when creating space for our own healing can be done without dealing with long drives, maneuvering traffic or waiting weeks for a time slot that’s going to work for us.
We want (and deserve) a space that feels safe, unrushed, and entirely our own.
Meeting from the comfort of home removes those barriers. It allows clients to show up authentically, with no pressure to “perform” or filter. They can create their own healing oasis, surrounding themself with the things they love - light a candle, turn on soothing music in the background, wrap up in a soft blanket, and begin their session in a safe space where their nervous system already feels at ease.
You get to make it your own.
From Skepticism to Deep Trust
Looking back, I understand why I was hesitant. It was hard to imagine that such an intimate process could happen over a screen.
But now? I know better. I’ve seen it too many times to question it anymore. I trust my process.
To be able to offer this kind of healing, this kind of freedom, to people across the globe… it’s a gift that humbles me every day. I absolutely love what I do and I get so excited when someone else, who has been searching for their answers, finds me.
If you’ve never experienced a session like this before, I get it. I know what it’s like to be unsure and to question if it's really going to work. But I also know what’s waiting for you on the other side of that doubt:
Clarity. Inner peace. Freedom.
There are no words that can fully describe what these feel like, especially when all you've known has been the absence of these in your life.
There is one common denominator I have witnessed with my clients, whether I see them in person or virtually, and that is - at the end of the session when they open their eyes, the first word that comes out of their mouth is: "Wow."
That tells me that my process works and it has absolutely nothing to do with proximity.
So...are you ready?
